Civica’s
Rural Hospital
Program

Access to essential medicines shouldn’t depend on zip code

Bring greater supply stability to your community

Rural and critical access hospitals face unique challenges when drug shortages disrupt the supply chain. Civica’s Rural Hospital Program helps ensure reliable access to essential generic medications—so patients can receive the care they need, regardless of where they live.

THE CHALLENGE

Rural hospitals face significant challenges related to drug shortages1

Rural hospitals face persistent challenges in sourcing generic drugs due to a fragile supply chain for sterile injectables. These facilities often have limited purchasing power, making them less prioritized by wholesalers during shortages compared to larger health systems.1

A SOLUTION

Civica’s proven model adapted for rural healthcare

Civica was founded by health systems committed to addressing the root causes of drug shortages. Today, that same nonprofit model is helping rural and critical access hospitals gain access to a more reliable supply of essential medicines.

By extending participation opportunities to rural hospitals, Civica is helping strengthen healthcare access in communities that are often underserved by traditional pharmaceutical supply chains.
