Civica’s approach to tackling drug shortages is unique.
  • Provides essential medicines – in shortage or at risk of shortage – that are selected by U.S. health system pharmacists
  • Brings stability to the market through long-term purchase and supply contracts
  • Offers “one-price” model, available to all members
  • Works to maintain 4-6 months of extra inventory of every drug to buffer supply shortages
  • Emphasizes U.S. sourcing (Canada or the EU are second; neither APIs nor finished drugs are sourced from China, except when the drug is otherwise unavailable)
  • In addition to developing and manufacturing our own medications, emphasizes quality in sourcing, with robust oversight of suppliers, including physical audits, tracking of key metrics and quarterly quality review
