Civica Inc. (Civica, Civica Rx) has been named a 2025 Best Place to Work by BioSpace, a leading digital hub for timely life science news and jobs.
The BioSpace Best Places to Work list includes 20 large and 30 small companies, based on feedback from more than 3600 life science professionals. Voters rated companies on eight attributes: compensation; innovation; career growth opportunities; leadership; culture; diversity, equity and inclusion; reputation; and flexibility and remote work.
“Congratulations to the entire Civica team. I’m so proud of all we have accomplished together as we work to make quality, essential medications available and affordable to everyone,” said Civica CEO Ned McCoy. “We continue to grow our impact – to date providing nearly 200 million units of quality generic medicines that have historically been in short supply, enough to help treat nearly 90 million patients.”
Nearly 60 health systems are Civica members, which include approximately 1400 hospitals that represent over 30% of all licensed U.S. hospital beds. Civica currently delivers about 80 drugs to member hospitals, including antibiotics, cardiovascular and pain medications used in urgent care settings. These medications are chosen by hospitals because they are at risk of shortage.
In addition to addressing drug shortages, Civica will help to make drugs more affordable for patients through its CivicaScript organization. One of the first medications CivicaScript tackled was a medication for prostate cancer. Other medications are in the pipeline, including Civica insulin, which will be available to consumers at affordable – and unprecedented – prices.
Civica will produce a reliable supply of more than three dozen medications currently in or near shortage status as well as biosimilar insulins at its new state-of-the-art sterile injectable manufacturing facility in Virginia (pending FDA approval).
“When we launched the company, a Civica manufacturing plant was merely an ambitious dream,” said McCoy.
About Civica
Civica is a non-profit generic pharmaceutical company established to address drug shortages. It was founded by a group of U.S. health systems and philanthropies who, after more than a decade of chronic shortages, recognized that the market was not self-correcting and that a different approach is required. Civica works to deliver a safe, stable and affordable supply of essential medicines to U.S. patients.
