Not-for-profit Generic Drug Company Officially Established

Seven major health systems team up to form a nonprofit company named Civica Rx to manufacture their own generic drugs. They pick Martin VanTrieste, formerly chief quality officer for Amgen, as CEO. The initiative got an official name—Civica Rx—in addition to $30 million in funding from a slew of major investors including the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.
