CivicaScript®, a nonprofit pharmaceutical company dedicated to bringing low-cost generic medicines to U.S. consumers, welcomes the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) to its Ambassador Program.
CivicaScript’s Ambassador Program creates a platform for broad industry participation in its effort to make quality generic medicines affordable and available to everyone. CivicaScript Ambassadors are organizations that are aligned with the CivicaScript mission and can promote awareness and use of CivicaScript products among their customers and other stakeholders.
“ACHP’s commitment to maximizing prescription-drug savings for patients makes them an ideal CivicaScript Ambassador,” said CivicaScript President Brent J. Eberle, R.Ph., M.B.A. “We look forward to working together to connect more patients with CivicaScript and broaden awareness of our mission.”
While many generic medicines cost less than brand-name drugs, some high-cost generics are more expensive than they need to be due to massive PBM markups, lack of competition in the market and other factors.1 Numerous studies confirm that medication costs can dictate whether patients ration their prescriptions or even fill them in the first place. CivicaScript, its members and its manufacturing partners are working to address that problem.
CivicaScript identifies select high-priced generic medicines and works with manufacturing partners to bring them to market at a fraction of their current cost. The company then works with like-minded payors, PBMs and pharmacies across the country who pass along the cost savings to their customers. Pharmacies dispense our medicines at no more than our maximum recommended price, or MaxRPTM policy – and consumers can confirm this by scanning the QR code featured on every CivicaScript label.
“We are glad to partner with CivicaScript to make it easier for consumers to access and pay for their prescriptions,” said ACHP President and CEO Ceci Connolly.
