LEHI, UT, Nov. 7, 2023- Civica Inc. (Civica, Civica Rx) has been named a Best Place to Work by BioSpace, a popular digital hub for timely life science news and jobs. Civica is recognized in part for its emphasis on culture and innovation.
“A talented team doing what is in the best interest of patients is the foundation of our culture and our collaborative, nonprofit organization is a model for innovation,” said Civica’s President and CEO Ned McCoy. “I am so proud of all we have accomplished together. Well-deserved and well done, team!”
Civica is a non-profit generic pharmaceutical company established to address drug shortages. It was founded by a group of U.S. health systems and philanthropies who, after more than a decade of chronic shortages, recognized that the market was not self-correcting and that a different approach is required.
Civica works to deliver a safe, stable and affordable supply of essential medicines to U.S. patients. In its first five years of operation, Civica’s hospital membership has grown to 55 health systems and 1500 hospitals. It delivers more than 80 drug products, 145 million containers to date.
More recently, Civica announced its plans to manufacture and distribute affordable medications for consumers in an outpatient setting, including affordable insulin. Its sister organization CivicaScript has launched a low-cost consumer medication to help treat prostate cancer and Civica’s affordable insulin program is in active development.
Many Civica medications will be made at the company’s new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Petersburg Virginia, outside of Richmond.
